8/22

I had to share this picture. The smaller bacon wrapped bundles are cream cheesefilled red jalapenos and the larger ones are cream cheese filled red poblanos. The peppers are all fresh from the garden and were soooo yummy when we grilled them with our steaks.
This has been today's project. Jakob and I brought in another 5 gallon bucket of tomatoes this morning and I'm currently canning pizza sauce from a recipe I found online. I thought it was kind of sweet, but Jakob thought it was really good. I hope so, we're getting 15 pints of sauce from that 5 gallon bucket!

This is Caribbean when I took it off the q-snaps a little while ago. I've barely touched it all day and I have had the time. Instead I've been stitching on 1900 Abecedaire.
This is 1900 Abecedaire. I've only been stitching on it for a couple of hours. This border is pretty mindless so I've had to frog once but should be pretty easy to continue. I'm stitching it with the Sticklounge group, but the chart was offered as a freebie so I've got all the parts if I can't keep up with the group.

Pictures!

Here's my favorite of the bunch! My oldest son, Jakob started 2nd grade last Thursday. This is right before we went to the bus stop Thursday morning. His little brother wants to go to school too but has to wait till next year.
I've finally got some pictures to share! Here's Zentangle 2 and parts 1-12. I hope to pick this one up again this weekend and get at least one more part stitched.

Over the last week or so I've been stitching Caribbean again. This is the second corner (upper right) That big block with the star fish seemed to take forever. With luck, I'll have the rest of this corner done in another week. Don't know if I can face the third corner yet though. It will probably be put away again for a while at that point.

The temperature today was survivable compared to the temps for the last week or so. So, what do I decide to do? This morning when I got up, I went out to the garden and picked two five gallon buckets of tomatoes. Then I ran them through a food mill and I've been cooking down the juice for the rest of the day. I'm making ketchup of all things. In previous years, I've just canned the juice, but we don't seem to use it fast enough. Last year I made ketchup with a purchased mix and we used it all! Problem is, I don't know exactly what was in that mix. This year, I'm trying a recipe I found online. Don't know if it's any good or not cause it's still cooking!!!! I think next weekend, we're going to do some pizza sauce. It's the other tomato based product I know we'll use up.

On a stitching note, I have been stitching on Caribbean this week since I finished part 12 of Zentangle...(note to self, post picture of Zentangle). I haven't gotten as far as I would like but I am making a little progress.

Now, I gotta go check my ketchup. I'm hoping to get it canned before midnight.

Well, we just got back from Oklahoma. We arrived to 99 degree temps. It could be worse! It was 107+ in Oklahoma yesterday!

While we were there, I spent lots of time stitching cause it was just too hot to go outside.

Here's Summer Knotgarden that I started last week after finishing Frosty Knotgarden part 3

I have the Delicas stitched on but the bigger stuff will have to be added later.

After I finished that Saturday morning, I moved onto the Debbie Draper Topiary Garden that was designed for the Sticklounge yahoo group.

Then I moved onto Zentangle from the same group. I'm in the middle of page 12 and I'm hoping to be done with that tonight or tomorrow. The group has only released page 14 as of last week so I'm almost caught up! After I submit my wip through part 12 I'm moving to Caribbean. I would like to have it finished yet this year.

Yeah for pictures!!
Frosty Knotgarden. This is through part 3 which brings it current. The next part comes out September 1
This is one of the SALs I'm participating in with the Sticklounge group on yahoogroups. This is the Debbie Draper mystery. I think it is actually called the Topiary Garden
Here's Zentangle 2 through part 9. There's a pair of scissors in the middle that are being stitched in the silver and gold PTB left over from Chatelaine's MM5. Thanks again, Ineke!
Now, I'm trying to decide what is coming with me when we go visit the inlaws later this week. I'm thinking Chatelaine's Caribbean and Bygone Stitches One Nation. I thought about breaking Lust out of her box, but stitching on higher count fabrics is more difficult than it's worth on the highway and interstate in Kansas.
I've been naughty. Yesterday, I dyed a piece of fabric in a light blue for a new start. With any luck, I should have another update before we leave.
