It's been a bit

So some things happened which left me wondering how, why, etc.  But I don't want to go there.

My stitching is kind of limping along right now.  I've only made a little progress in the last month.

Here's as far as I made it on Irish Chain before I got tired of dealing with the fiddly color changes with the Kreinik silk.

I've had Nora Corbett's Santa's Sleigh in the new start pile for a while.  Fabric is Wicked Garden from Colour Cascade Fabrics.

An update

So it's been a rough couple of weeks.

On August 30, I became, unexpectedly, unemployed.  And let me just say, that sucked.

Things are looking up now and I have to totally agree with "When one door closes, another door opens" because I've found my open door and have gone through it.

Sadly, I didn't do a lot of stitching over the last two weeks.  My stitchy bug was chased away by the funk I found myself in.  Maybe it went on vacation with my appetite since I didn't have that either.  I lost 15 pounds which I'm totally aware isn't good.

Anyway.  I finished band 4 on Loara Standish

Then she was put away.

I pulled Beaded Dragonfly Tile back out and did make a bit of progress, mostly over a weekend.

Sea Witch came back out.

And I couldn't settle in with it.  So it was put away.

Then I decided maybe a new start would help and I pulled out a Kreinik Kit I bought at Hobby Lobby years ago, back when they actually had more than Dimensions kits.  This was probably about the time I was buying Mirabilia charts there.

I started

 and progress my first night

Two more goals met!

I hope all my readers had a great weekend!  Mine was a little busy with a birthday but I still managed to meet two more of my goals.

This WIP turned 15 Saturday

Love that kid!

Saturday, I finished page 2 of Tilton's Feathers in the Wind.

It then went back in with all the other WIPs and Loara Standish came back out.  Sunday, I finished band 3.  And since I'm a little crazy and stitching this pretty girl reversibly on 50ct Kingston, here are the
front

and back

Loara is still out and I'm working on band 4 which is all double running stitch.

Progress

Did anyone get a good view of the eclipse yesterday?  We live in the area of totality and the sky ended up being very cloudy so we couldn't see the eclipse itself but the 360 degree sunset was interesting.  I'm very glad I took yesterday off from work too since we live in a little village in the country and the highway was packed.  The interstate to the north was a madhouse.  No thank you!

Instead, I got to do way more cooking than I generally do since my in-laws came up for the eclipse.  I did get some stitching done though.  This is page one of He Came With the Rain from UnconventionalXS.  That bottom right corner starts to see the girl's headwear and was all confetti.  The rest of it wasn't too bad though.

Saturday morning, I pulled out Feathers in the Wind from Tilton Crafts.  I think I made some huge progress!  Here's before

And here's my progress as of last night

I LOVE tent with large blocks of color!

Page 24

Saturday afternoon, I finished page 24 of Lust.

I had planned on starting page 25 but I just couldn't do it so I went downstairs to my bag o WIPs and pulled out several.  He Came With The Rain from UnconventionalXS is the project that went on the QSnaps.   I'm hoping to finish page 1 in the next week or so since they're not very big pages.

Today, my kiddos went back to school!  I can't believe I have a 9th grader and a 6th grader!  I finished up some of the paperwork last night so the 9th grader can play football and he can get his chromebook for class.  Today, he also has concussion testing so he can start football practice tomorrow.

Page 23

Last night, I finished page 23 of Lust!

I've started page 24 and am hoping to finish that page by the weekend, but since school starts next week, we have meetings and open houses tonight.  This weekend, I'm planning on making salsa verde and doing something with the over abundance of elderberries on the bushes.  The corn also needs picked, cut off cobs and frozen and I think there are tomatoes ready to go.  Busy, busy!

Working on a page finish

I made lots of progress this weekend!  I have under 1000 stitches left on this page and page 24 is maybe 10 stitches wide.  I'm hoping I'll have both pages finished by next weekend.

The detail is in the confetti!

I'm still working on those confetti filled flames.  I'm hoping to have them done tonight or tomorrow so I can move onto the rest of the page.

Hello there!

I saw this guy early Saturday morning.  I don't know what kind he is, but if anyone knows, please tell me.

I made some nice progress on Lust last week.  I'm hoping to finish all the confetti in the flames over the next week or so.  Then, the bulk of the rest of the chart should be big blocks of color for the most part.

Dang, it's hot out there!

I think summer is here, with a vengeance!!  It's supposed to be 100 degrees here today and that's before you account for humidity.  Yuck!

Last weekend was hot but Saturday morning, we brought this lovely home from where it's been stored.  I would really love to get it running again and be able to drive it.

This is where Blue Moroccan Lace is right now.  I spent 30 minutes last night trying to decide on the next color to add and put it away.  Lust came back out instead.

Blue Moroccan Lace

I've made some slow progress on Blue Moroccan Lace over the last week.  We've had a baseball tournament which has slowed me down!

Decisions...

Since Photobucket is being a pain and wants to charge a lot of money to be able to use their photo sharing ability with blogger, I need to look for a new photo hosting service.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Anyway,  I finally made it to the end of the row I was working on in Heritage Sampler.

At that point, I needed a change  of scenery so I pulled out Star Spangled Banner from Northern Expressions Needlework.  I finished the stripe I had been working on last time it was out and started the next white stripe.  I was having problems with stitch placement so I started the next red stripe.  At that point, I decided I'd had enough of all specialty stitches.

Yesterday, I'd also worked on finishing kitting up Chatelaine's Blue Moroccan Lace Mandala.

Here's what I've got.  My helper approved!

I hope to get a start on this tonight but there's baseball, so maybe.

One last bit...

Heritage Sampler is still out.

Sunday, it was time to move the qsnaps.  I'm pretty sure what I'm adding to those blank rows, but have yet to work it all out and get it charted.

I'm ready to rotate, but I'm going to finish the two stitched rows, the vertical leaves and grapes and the column of alphabet, just like the other side, since that will meet my goal for this piece this year.

Heritage Sampler

I finally finished the first third or so of the second set of bands I'm working on.

Then I moved the snaps and finished all the loose threads before starting any new.  Here's my progress through last night.

Heritage Sampler progress

In between ball games and practice, I am making progress on Heritage Sampler.

Since this picture, I've finished the top band (at least what fit inside the current qsnap opening) and moved down the page.

Garden Verses to Heritage Sampler

I finally hit a wall with Garden Verses Friday night.  I just couldn't do any more.  So I finished the 10 stitches or so in the color I was working in and put her away.  I made more progress on her in the last two months than I have in the last 10 years so I'm happy.  I'm hoping the next time I pull her out, she'll get finished.

I had trouble picking my next project.  I pulled out several and even thought about a new start but Chatelaine's Heritage Sampler won.  I didn't make a huge amount of progress this weekend since we had a baseball tournament but overall, I don't think I did too bad.
My kiddo is the runner in this picture.

Garden Verses and 2 FFO's

Over the last week, I've continued to make progress on Garden Verses.  Here's a picture from Saturday when I moved my qsnaps.
I've since almost finished the purple, but I don't have another picture.

I also decided to frame a couple of pieces.  I started out with four but didn't like the frames for two of them once I brought them upstairs.  But two is better than what I had.

So, here is FFO #1
A Stitcher's Heart from Sekas & Co

and FFO #2
FoF 79.  Artwork by Jasmine Becket-Griffith, charted by HAED

Both were frames purchased from Michaels, probably during a sale.  I tend to pick up square frames even if I don't know what I"m going to use them for.  The mat for FoF 79 started out white but I didn't like it with the stitching and the frame so I painted it black and speckled it with some silver.  I think it turned out pretty nice.

An update and an anniversary

Garden Verses is still out.  I need to rotate.  I brought Feathers in the Wind upstairs but that is still sitting on the coffee table.  Garden Verses is still making slow progress.
There was enough room at the bottom for that ribbon.  There isn't a huge amount, but enough.

Thirteen years ago, May 22, 2004, my little village was hit by the widest F4 tornado recorded to that point and almost wiped us off the map.  Thankfully, my son, who was almost 2, and I were not home at the time and my husband and pets made it through with only a few scratches.

We rebuilt our home right back on the same foundation and moved back one year later.

Slow progress

Since the last time I posted, I've made some pretty good progress.  Thursday, while at baseball practice, I needed to move the qsnaps so I took a picture

Since then, there was an all day state track meet that was three hours away.  My kid took 5th in his event!  Then there was frogging of everything I'd managed to stitch on the way to said track meet.  Then there was a baseball game last night.  It was too windy to stitch so I had a book out instead when my kid wasn't playing.

Here's a picture from yesterday when I was stuffing things in my bag to go to the game.

I get weird looks from some of the other parents when I stitch a game away but I don't know most of them well enough to just shoot the sh$% with them.  I'm just an introvert at heart so I bring something to occupy my brain while I watch my kid practice or during games.

Tonight, I get to go straight home after work, do a couple of chores, cook supper and STITCH!!  It's been a while since I've been able to go straight home and not spend so much time in the car.

First rose

I'm still plugging along on Garden Verses.  I'm kind of surprised she's been out this long but I'll take what I can get.  I've also realized how big a girl she is.  I've been working on her again for a little more than three weeks and still have A LOT to go.

I'm going to keep working on her while the bug is happy with her.  Here's where she is now.

What's in that blue bag?

Garden Verses by Mirabilia still has my full attention.  This is definitely another Mira that the photo on the front doesn't do it justice.  There is lots of metallic to give it an extra something, especially since this one has zero beads.

I took my qsnaps off yesterday morning to take a picture for something else so here is everything I had stitched to that point.

Last night had definitely seen more progress.  I'm starting to wonder if my fabric will be big enough though since there is another drape of gown/cloak/whatever that goes lower than the point I am now.  I definitely need to check that out!
