Finishes, framed and a WIP pic

I decided yesterday afternoon to pull some frames down, pull the finishes out that I bought those frames for and get my frame on!

I managed three.

I've still got a couple I want to frame but they'll probably have to wait till next weekend unless baseball gets rained out.  We're supposed to have a game tomorrow night to make up one that was rained out but since it is raining right now, it's hard to tell.

Finally, here's my update of Chatelaine's Art Nouveau Sampler.  I wasn't certain about some of my conversions in the leaves but I think they work well together.  Any thoughts??

Now, I'm going to go listen to rain hit the windows and do some beading so I can finish the flowers and move the q-snaps.

Finish #5 for 2013

About 1am today, I finished the final mystery from Sticklounge.  Unless something drastic happens, the group will close at the end of June.  I've had a lot of fun stitching what was offered over the last three years.  Just to reminisce, I think I'll pull some pictures back up.

2012 WIPocalypse

Since this is my last post for the 2012 WIPocalypse, I thought I would share some before and afters of my WIPs.  I didn't get as many finishes as I would have liked, but I did make progress on most of them.

So, I didn't make as much progress as I would have liked, but since I'm no longer an OAAT stitcher, I think the progress I did make is pretty darn respectable.

Yay! A finish!

I just finished Petit Sampler I stitched with the Sticklounge group. This is stitched on HDF 40ct linen in Mermaid Blue with HDF 4401/1325/2109.  Love the pop of colors!

I'm debating on what to stitch next.  I'm thinking Lust might come out to visit or 1900 ABC.  The second one will go very quickly after I finish the little bit of border on the first page of the second row of pages.  I guess I may have made my decision?

2012 Wipacolypse February

Since I finished part 2 of Deep Blue Sea last weekend, I've been stitching on Petit Sampler.  I expected to have this done much more quickly, but as you can see I still have a couple of motifs to go.  Hopefully by this weekend, I'll have a finish!

Almost a finish

I just finished part 3 of Petit Sampler! 

If I wanted to, I could probably see this little piece finished by the weekend. But dark blue 40 ct needs to be stitched on in little parts. Besides, I think I'm going to be using another piece of this fabric for a Christmas gift for my sitter. She's another stitcher/quilter/sewer who actually appreciates stitched gifts. So, that's what she's gotten every year since the boys started going to her house.



Today, a link was posted to a christmas tree freebie that I really like.  I'm thinking of stitching one in white, one in red (probably a pink to make is show up on the dark fabric) and sew them together (along with some stuffing) with some beads for the bling.  I'm thinking finding an old block with the letter J for my boys or D for her name.  If I buy a skinny dowel and drill a hole in the block, I can stand the whole thing up.  Shouldn't take too long to put together and be something she could display...she really likes to decorate her house and this would fit in with Christmas and the Americana theme she has running thru the house.

Petit Sampler

Welcome to all of my new followers!

Last night I finished part 2 of Petit Sampler that I'm stitching with the Sticklounge group.  I know the chart is available from the original designer's blog, but I have to remember who that is before I can share it.  This is stitched on a custom color from HDF on 40 ct HDF Mermaid Blue linen.  I'm really liking the bright colors on the dark fabric!

Friday, I stopped by Michaels on my way home.  I've been debating the idea of making the boys new scarves to keep them warm this winter.  This is the color, I picked out for them.  It's a very soft yarn, called Simply Soft, I think.  I've pulled everything out twice since this is my first attempt with tunisian crochet.  I started out with single crochet which made this just curl terribly.  So I started again with double crochet and this is the result!  So, now I have two scarves to work on in this color and another one for me.  I bought an alpaca yarn for mine.  It was a more expensive than this but I wanted to try something different too.

Last night after I finished part 2 of Petit Sampler, I pulled out it's much bigger cousin.  I really like this one...just wish I had more patience for all the repeats in the border.  Once I get into the inside and away from the border, it should stitch up faster.

A WIP update and a finish!

I finally finished part 4 of Spring Knotgarden Sunday.  Almost didn't make it though...that last repeat almost did me in.  I persevered though and here's the result.

 Here's a closeup of the upper left corner.  I'm very happy with how the colors in the leaves blended together.

Tonight I finally finished the final part of Purple Garden stitched with the Sticklounge group.  To celebrate, I pulled out Petit Sampler which has not had any love for a while.

Petit Sampler

Look I am awake during the day!!  haha!!  Here's part 1 of the Petit Sampler stitched with the Sticklounge group.  I'm even done before part 2 comes out.  There's a big motif that overlaps from left to right and a smaller one at the bottom of this page that overlaps to the bottom page I haven't done yet.  I'm trying to decide if I want to do them in another color.

I've been stitching Petit Sampler during the day and Purple Garden in the evenings.  I'm hoping to finish page 5 in the next day or so.

The countdown continues...

Oh, look at that.  It's after midnight again on a Sunday night and I'm just now getting a post here.  Funny how that works.  I guess today I can chalk it down to taking a long, very nice nap this afternoon.  Screwed me all up.  Jakob had a birthday party at one of the local pools that the birthday boy's mom called and asked if I was interested in having her pick up Jakob.  It upset Joshua, but I jumped all over that offer!  So, instead of spending my afternoon poolside, I got to stay inside with my summertime favorite, the air conditioner. 

I did get some stitching done around my nap schedule today though.  I've just finished another 1/8th of the border of Frosty Knotgarden.  I'm now 1/2 the way through all the repeats of the piles of snow.  At least I think that is what makes up the border. 

Over the course of the last couple of weeks, I've also made a start on a new piece from the Sticklounge group.  This one is called Petit Sampler.  It's being stitched on 40 ct HDF fabric in the color Mermaid Blue with a custom color whose name escapes me right now.  I could go find it but I'll have to post that information next time.

There are a couple of pieces that will be started with the Sticklounge group in the near future which will interfere with some of the new Chatelaines that are starting.  It's a good thing I haven't placed a new silk order for them yet or I would probably be downstairs cutting fabric instead of working on current WIPs.  Hopefully my willpower can hold out a little while longer!
